Lacresha Hayes Writing No-Nos

There are certain things many authors do that murders their manuscript. These things can render your manuscript worthless in the site of any legitimate agent or publisher. Some of those no-nos are: 1. Undeveloped characters and/or storylines - if you're going to write, do it well. Take time to give your characters a life of their own. Make sure your story is not too short or too long. Make sure it doesn't leave any unanswered questions, unless of course, you plan to write a sequel or full fledg… Continue

Nanette Buchanan Celebrating Father's Day

Poppa He grew up in the days when a dollar was a lot to spend During the times when boys were never to young for the responsibilities of men. Talked about the miles he walked to make a days pay Smiled as he thanked the Lord for each and every day. He was quiet about the challenges of his manhood and the sacrifices he made Feeling less than a man realizing the games that ignorance played. I look at him now in pictured memories As he stood as Royal Wealth His Sunday definition for himself "I was… Continue

Robbie Ayele An Excerpt from Broken

Cole deducted that a woman had killed Terrence Hill. That was obvious by the long strands of red hair found on the couch. He flipped through the police report again even though it was late and he needed to get some sleep. He took off his reading glasses and rubbed his eyes. Some people considered him a workaholic and maybe he was, but investigations were his life. The only other thing that was important to him. He looked over at the framed picture on his desk. He picked it up, staring at the swe… Continue

Hello many people, I'm just here to state the atrophy that is happening to our children's minds. If you think raising kids are hard, they are even harder now because the technology is fighting against us. Now, I'm not saying that you should throw away the TV in the garbage (Which you would have to do anyway, due to the switch to HD- tv's in 2009), but it is taking away the minds of our children. This month is not a bad time to start because it is actually 'No TV for a week' month. I plan to p… Continue
